Sunset over the Naukluft Mountain Range near Sesriem
The Naukluft mountains lie in the transition-area of savanna and desert. The sandy transition-zone of the eastern foothills of the Namib Dunes as far as to the foot of the massif is largely vegetation-free, in precipitation rich years however, the surface changes into a billowy sea from grass. Also dense Camel Thorn (Acacia erioloba) and Three Thorn (Rhigozum trichotomum) are found isolated along the furrows and rivers.
