Kathmandu - Taleju Temple (1564)

This three-roofed Taleju Temple was established in 1564, in a typical Newari architectural style and is elevated on platforms that form a pyramid-like structure. It is by far the largest temple in the Durbar Square area, and it dominates the horizon as you enter from the north. Its three gilded roofs and ornate spire glimmer in the sun, and bells that hang from each of the three roofs can often be heard when the wind blows.
